I Want my Food Network?!
01 5 2007In a news article apparently posted from the future (01/08/2007,) BusinessWeek claims that E.W.Scripps Co., the media company that also owns Food Network, is being saved by the Brand’s popularity. I can buy that.
I mean, think about it. Everyone loves Food Network. Who says “Hey, screw eating. You know what? I’m not going to stand for it anymore. It’s wrong. It’s immoral. It’s unsanitary!” Yeah, that’s a bit far fetched, don’t you think?
The one downside to all of it? The horrendous advertising. I was wondering about a way I would bring this up in my blog, but this is a nice segue into it. Last Sunday, while watching Iron Chef America, I saw a small McDonalds ad in the top left-hand corner of a scoring screen. I’m sure I can get a screen capture of it, but that’s a bit absurd. “I’m Lovin’ It”, in the same thought as Iron Chef? Uh, yes, please, I’ll take the McFoieGras with a side of Truffles. $5.99, are you outta your mind?!
I also found a bunch of backlash [more] [and more] [and even more] after finding an article on FoodieObsessed about Alton Brown endorsing Miller Lite. The sign says “Bring More Taste to the Table” Miller Lite != Taste, I’m quite sure. Sorry AB, poor form indeed.
